Why I Want to be Your Next Council Member :

I have a great passion for public service. As an engineer, I could have pursued a career in high paying job but chose public service. A lifelong public servant, I believe in public service and has dedicated my life to serve the community.

We are in a time of great challenges in New York City. It is during time of crisis, a leader of proven leadership, vision, independent thinking, and ready to work selflessly to represent the diverse population of North Shore needs to be elected. As an experienced leader I have demonstrated a clear knowledge of education, transportation, healthcare, senior citizens, special need children, affordable housing and quality of life.

Our schools are overcrowded, roads are clogged, and hospitals overburdened, too many of our youth lack direction in life and parents struggling to put bread on the table and pay for their children’s college. It is time to strengthen our families, keep the American Dream alive by being creative and helping those struggling to make ends meet.

Now more than ever North Shore needs a leader with proven experience to bring our fair share to help the working men and women to live and raise a family. Clean up the neighborhoods; bring a sense of belonging, by working collectively with community, civic and business group to revitalize our District. I am driven by passion for public service and hence the driving force behind my campaign is a true passion.

It is time to take back North Shore’s precious waterfront. I will fight to make the ignored six mile long precious waterfront into a hub of all kind of vibrant activities with parks and restaurants, thereby creating much needed jobs and giving the business community a chance to expand and succeed. Bring revenue attracting tourism and give local public access to the waterfront. As former chairman of waterfront committee of Community Board #1 and an engineer, I know how to give a facelift to the abandoned waterfront of North Shore.

A clean and safe neighborhood is a sign of better quality of life, I will work hard to get rid-off graffiti by employing our at-risk and troublesome youth and I will create community watchdog groups to monitor the neighborhood by working together with community and business groups. Unless, we have a sense of belonging and pride it will be difficult to achieve the above and I will work hard to instill in our youth that it is their future at stake and make them play a major role to secure it.

Our middle class “the engine driving our economy” is bleeding and unless we stop will cease to exist. I will fight to build a second vocational school; this will open the door for our youth not interested in pursuing college and help create a career in blue-collar jobs (welders, carpenters, electrician, plumbers, etc.). A strong diverse work force and good jobs will help us reclaim our place in the world economy.

I will work hard to increase federal funding for public housing, it is time to redefine “affordable housing” and help make the North Shore’s most underrepresented and underserved people get a roof over their head to live and enjoy the great American dream.

I am lifelong public servant and proud father of two public school children. As a proven experienced leader, I have the determination, commitment and vision to be your next council member. I have a blue print for changing North Shore.

I am a fighter, as labor leader I have fought the City Hall, Albany and not afraid to continue the fight for you. I had the honor and privilege fighting for you over the past fifteen years, as vice president of Local 375, as delegate of DC 37/Central Labor Council, as president of Education Council and as Community Board Member. I am for term limits and have stood up against the mayor and council members who ignored the will of the people and shredded the twice voted referenda by extending term limits through legislation, thereby putting democracy behind their political ambition.  This incident has destroyed the good name of the NYC Legislative body and I will work hard with the like-minded members to re-establish the name by making City Council transparent, responsive to the needs of the people.

I will take the experience gained in labor, education, community and government to the next level and work full-time as your council member and articulate the issues facing North Shore and fight for our fair share from the New York City Council.

Together, we will make North Shore a better place to live and raise a family.
